Baitong Restaurant sits right on the sand of Chaweng Beach, and it's the one to know for straightforward Thai done well on the water. The papaya salad has a real kick and the fish curry is the dish people come back for. Order it barefoot, order it slow.

If breakfast on the beach is more your speed, The Tent at SALA Samui Chaweng Beach does a floating breakfast, a tray set on the water with banana bread and a glass of something, which is a genuinely fun way to start a day you'll spend doing nothing. It's a hotel restaurant, so you can also just walk up for a normal breakfast or order room service if the floating tray feels like too much effort before 9am.
